چکیده
Capacity drop (CD) at overloaded bottlenecks is a puzzling traffic flow phenomenon with some internal and complicated mechanisms the microscopic level. not only important for theory modelling, but also significant control. A model evaluating control measures needs to be able reproduce capacity in order deliver reliable evaluation results. This paper delivers comprehensive overview on subject from behavioral mechanism perspective, as well macroscopic simulation points of view. The conducts comparable studies replicate freeway ramp merges both perspectives. Firstly, studied using METANET respect merging scenarios without metering. Secondly, one major weakness commercial tools creating identified forced lane changing ramp-merging vehicles incorporated into tool AIMSUN. extended AIMSUN carefully calibrated against real data then examined its capability reproducing scenario bottlenecks. obtained results demonstrate that reproducible can delivered targeted tools.

Ramp Metering and Freeway Bottleneck Capacity
This study aims to determine whether ramp meters increase the capacity of active freeway bottlenecks. The traffic flow characteristics at twenty-seven active bottlenecks in the Twin Cities have been studied for seven weeks without ramp metering and seven weeks with ramp metering. A methodology for systematically identifying active freeway bottlenecks in a metropolitan area is proposed, which re...
متن کاملCapacity of Freeway Merge Areas with Different On-ramp Traffic Flow
This paper is aimed at investigating the influence of different types of traffic flows on the capacity of freeway merge areas. Based on the classical gap-acceptance model, two calculating models were established specifically considering randomly arriving vehicles and individual difference in driving behaviours. Monte-Carlo simulation was implemented to reproduce the maximum traffic volume on th...
متن کاملA Microscopic Simulator for Freeway Traffic
In this contribution a micro-simulator for freeway traffic which is coupled to a stream of on-line data stemming from inductive loops is presented. In order to provide network-wide information about the current traffic state a cellular automaton traffic flow model is combined with the measured data. The framework is applied to the freeway network of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), where data from...
